The launch of an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) rocket, powered by cryogenic engines has failed.

The satellite launch vehicle deviated from its path within minutes of its launch.

Chairman of the ISRO, Dr K. Radhakrishnan, blamed the failure on the non-ignition of the spacecraft's rockets, and said that a re-launch would take place within a year.
