Karzai vows to tackle corruption

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said he will replace ministers and senior officials who have been involved in corruption or who are incompetent.

Speaking to the US television network PBS, Mr Karzai said some people had already been replaced.

But he also blamed some foreign states and organisations and called on them to help with moves against corruption.

Last week British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and UN envoy in Kabul Kai Eide urged Mr Karzai to introduce reforms.
