Dalai Lama in Tibet border visit

The Dalai Lama has been greeted by thousands of villagers as he began a controversial visit to a monastery close to the Tibetan border.

The Tibetan spiritual leader's visit took place in India's state of Arunachal Pradesh, itself a source of dispute between Beijing and Delhi.

Speaking to a crowd which had gathered, the Dalai Lama denied reports from Beijing that had suggested that his visit was anti-China and damaging to India-China ties, by calling them "baseless".
