Officials at the scene of the bus crash

At least 25 people have been killed and 40 others injured as two buses collided in Indian-administered Kashmir, the police said.

The incident took place on a mountainous road at Panthal, in Udhampur district, early on Wednesday.

Rescue teams have reached the spot and taken the injured to hospital. Police suspect the buses were speeding.

Road accidents kill hundreds of Indians every year. Most are blamed on reckless driving, old vehicles and bad roads.
