Conflict declared over in S Lanka


There is growing international concern over the fate of thousands of civilians who have been caught up in the conflict in northern Sri Lanka.

Government troops say they have pinned down the last Tamil Tiger fighters.

The rebel fighters say they are ready to lay down their arms, which would bring more than two decades of conflict with government forces to an end.
