Manipur journalists in protest

Journalists in the north-east Indian state of Manipur have gone on strike following the killing of one of their colleagues.

Television stations are off air and newspapers have stopped publication.

The journalists' union said the stoppage would continue until the killers were brought to justice.

The dead man, Konsam Rishikanta Singh, was shot in the state capital, Imphal, on Monday. He was the sixth journalist to be killed in Manipur since 2000.

The killings have been blamed on some of the many rebel groups active in the state.
