Afghan writer shot in Pakistan
An Afghan intellectual living in Pakistan has been shot and wounded by unidentified gunmen. They opened fire on the writer, Enamullah Wak, in the city of Peshawar. He is reported to have been hit in the shoulder by several bullets but his precise condition is unclear. The attack on Mr Wak is thought to be politically motivated. He is a member of the nationalist Afghan Milat party and is understood to be trying to gauge the extent of support in Afghanistan for the return of the former king Mohammad Zahirshah, who currently lives in Italy.
