Explosion at Balochistan rally

At least 20 people were injured when a blast ripped through a political rally in the Pakistani province of Balochistan, police and witnesses said.

The attack took place in the town of Dera Allah Yar, 200 miles (300km) from the provincial capital Quetta.

The rally was being held to observe the second anniversary of the death of Baloch nationalist, Nawab Akbar Bugti.

He was killed by Pakistani troops after spending years fighting for autonomy for Balochistan.

It is not clear what the motive for the attack was.

"The device was planted on a motorcycle and went off when activists of a nationalist party were marching," senior police officer Nazir Ahmed Kurd was quoted by news agency Reuters as saying.

"There were no deaths but 21 people were wounded," he said.

Police said all the injured belonged to the party of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
