Nepal's new government sworn in

Prachanda
Prachanda is the most powerful politician in the country

Nepal's first government since the abolition of the monarchy in May has been sworn in

Prime Minister Prachanda's Communist Party of Nepal (Maoists) has the key portfolios of finance and defence.

But politicians from the coalition UML did not take the oath due to disagreements over who should be deputy prime minister.

The formation of the government comes nearly four-months after elections to the constituent assembly.

The Maoists emerged as the single largest party in the polls.

The foreign ministry went to the Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum, the third party in the Maoist-led coalition.
