Indian airport workers end strike
New airport in Bangalore
The new airport in Bangalore is due to open next month
Thousands of Indian airport workers have ended their strike against privatisation plans for two airports following talks with the government.

A union official said the government had pledged to examine their concerns.

Officials said the strike, mostly by ground staff, had little impact on flights but rubbish piled up at some airports and toilets were not cleaned.

Private airports are due to replace government facilities in the southern cities of Bangalore and Hyderabad soon.

Unions said hundreds of jobs would be lost if the scheme went ahead.
