I usually take a shortcut through the naval college so I have had a close shave today.
I was in my car when I heard the first blast. A few seconds later I heard another major blast. It was almost deafening and my car shook.
The car windows were open and I could feel the reverberations of the blast in the air.
I was terrified and so I turned to the naval college road to get out of the area.
I saw huge smoke fumes rising above and then at the entrance of the college I saw two or three people telling me to get out of there.
People in the naval college building were evacuating, running down through the stairs to get outside. I couldn't see properly because the smoke was so thick.
People were running around and it was chaos. The whole staff of the naval college was trying to get out of the building and into the garden into the front. People from elsewhere were trying to get to the scene.
Naval college officers were running around trying to make way for ambulances.
As soon as I left the college I was stuck in a traffic jam and I began to see the police cars coming and then minutes later the ambulances began to come.
I was so shocked.
