India MP held over rival's death

Mr Ahmad was expelled by his party
Police in the Indian capital, Delhi, say they have arrested a member of the national parliament who is charged with murder.

Atiq Ahmad, formerly with the Samajwadi Party, was expelled by his party after he was charged with killing a rival politician, Raju Pal.

Police had been looking for Mr Ahmad for the past six months.

Mr Ahmad has denied the charges. He is expected to be handed over to Uttar Pradesh police soon.

Mr Pal belonged to the Bahujan Samaj Party.
