Two to die for Beant Singh murder
A court in India has sentenced two people to death for the murder of Beant Singh, former chief minister of Punjab.

Three others were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court in the northern city of Chandigarh.

Jagtar Singh Hawara and Balwant Singh face the death sentence. Shamsher Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh each received life terms.

One of the accused, Navjot Singh, was acquitted by the court. The trial lasted for 11 years.
