Death penalty for India policeman
A court in India has sentenced to death a former senior police official after finding him guilty of killing a man in custody nearly 20 years ago.

Former assistant commissioner of Delhi police, RP Tyagi, beat his victim, Mahinder Kumar, so severely that he died of his injuries in August 1987.

Two other policemen were sentenced to one and three years in jail for trying to cover up their boss's crime.

Another man who survived being beaten by Tyagi survived.
