India truck crash leaves 29 dead
The wreckage of a bus
Traffic accidents are commonplace in India
A truck carrying farm workers has plunged into a ditch in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, killing 29 people, police have said.

The accident happened near the town of Hoshangabad, in the south of the state.

Police said 46 people were wounded - 14 of them seriously.

Hundreds of people are killed in road accidents in the region each year, mostly blamed on reckless driving, old vehicles and poorly maintained roads.

Last month, a passenger bus plunged into a lake in Rewa district of the state, killing 56 people, including women and children.
