Delhi police in major drugs haul
Police in the Indian capital, Delhi, say they have made one of the largest drugs hauls in the city's history.

More than 4,000kg of the drug methaqualone, commonly known as mandrax, were seized in a raid on a warehouse in the south of the city.

Police say the drugs are worth $42m on the international market.

Methaqualone is addictive, but is used as a recreational drug in the United States and South Africa. It is illegal in both countries.

One man has been arrested and is being questioned, police in Delhi say.

They say they are trying to find out whether the drugs were manufactured in India or whether they had been smuggled in.

They are also not sure whether the drugs were intended to be sold locally or smuggled abroad.

Last week too, police said they had seized 100kg of banned drugs destined for Canada and the US.
