'Four rebels' killed in Kashmir
The Indian army says it has killed four militants in an exchange in the border area of Indian administered Kashmir.

An army spokesman said the fighting broke out on Sunday evening in Gurez and continued till late in the night. This is the second clash between Indian troops and militants in Gurez area in five days.

Last week, four militants were killed when they crossed into the Indian side of the Line of Control, which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

The army spokesman said the militants killed in Sunday's clash might have been part of the group which infiltrated last week.

Indian troops are searching for more militants who may be hiding in the area.

Violence has increased in Indian-administered Kashmir in recent months after a lull in fighting, following peace talks between India and Pakistan which began in 2004.
