Three suspected militants and a police officer have died in two separate attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir, police say.
The militants died in a gunbattle which is ongoing in the town of Tral, some 40km (25) miles south of the state's summer capital, Srinagar.
Separately, a policeman has been killed in a grenade attack by militants in Srinagar, police say.
The Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group says it carried out the attack.
Police have cordoned off the site of the attack and have launched a hunt for the militants. They are believed to have run into a nearby building.

Another policeman and two civilians are also said to have been injured.
The attack comes just days after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held talks with Kashmiri leaders in Srinagar.
The talks were boycotted by militants as well as the main separatist groups in the state.
India and Pakistan both lay claim to Kashmir in its entirety and have fought two wars over the disputed region.
Despite peace talks between the two countries which began in 2004, no progress has been made on the contentious issue.
