At least 30 people have been killed in a bus crash near the western Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay), officials say.
Twenty-eight others were injured, 11 of them critically, when the bus went off a bridge in Thane district into a river bed 10m below, local officials say.
The driver, seven women and a 12-year-old boy are among the dead.
It is not clear why the driver lost control of the municipal transport bus. The vehicle had capacity for 58 people, but was carrying 69.
Collector and District Magistrate NY Jantre told the BBC the district administration would pay for medical treatment for those admitted to hospital.
Compensation for bereaved and injured has also been announced.
