Religious violence in Indian city
Four people have been killed in clashes between Hindus and Muslims in the city of Aligarh in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, reports say.

At least two of the dead were shot, police say. Nineteen more people have been treated for their wounds.

Fighting broke out when Muslims objected to the way Hindus were celebrating the festival of the birth of Lord Rama.

A curfew has been imposed in parts of the city.

Aligarh has a history of religious tensions.

Riot police have been deployed in sensitive areas of the city. Nearly 100 people have been arrested .
