Bollywood star's guard shot dead
Shahrukh Khan
Khan is one of Bollywood's biggest stars
Police in Mumbai (Bombay) have arrested one of Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan's security guards after he allegedly shot dead another guard at Khan's home.

The film star was at his residence when the shooting took place early on Tuesday morning.

Khan's palatial bungalow is heavily guarded and the incident happened inside the tall gates.

Police have been told it was a freak accident, but they say they are looking into all possibilities.

Security guards in neighbouring houses have suggested there was an argument between the two security guards, following which one of them shot the other.

There has been no immediate comment from Khan.

Acclaimed actor

Shahrukh Khan has been a household name in India ever since he first appeared in the TV serial Fauji and soap opera Circus in the late 1980s.

Khan has been a lead actor in Bollywood's biggest hit films since his first film in 1992.

He has acted in more than 50 films and has gained millions of fans playing romantic leads as well as villains, and even portraying historical figures.

Two of his films, Paheli and Devdas, were entered officially by India at the Oscars.

Khan has also made his mark as a producer in the Indian film industry, and was given the civilian award, the Padma Shri, in 2004.
