Thousands rally against Nepal king
Thousands of people in Nepal have attended a pro-democracy rally demanding that King Gyanendra give up absolute power.

Eyewitnesses say the demonstrators shouted slogans against the king and carried pro-democracy placards during the protest in the tourist town of Pokhara, west of the capital, Kathmandu.

The rally comes two days after the king reshuffled his cabinet amid growing pressure to restore democracy.

Last month seven political parties signed an agreement with the country's Maoist rebels to boost their campaign against the king who dismissed the government in February.
