More than 70,000 people have been moved to safer areas in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu following heavy monsoon rains.
Much of the state capital, Madras, is under water after flooding. No casualties have been reported.
State Chief Minister Jayalalitha toured flood-hit parts of the city, promising those affected they would receive help.
She said 140 camps had been set up and people in them would be given free food until they were able to return home.
