Tributes have been paid to the former Bangladeshi foreign minister and veteran opposition leader, Abdus Samad Azad, who died on Wednesday.
The 79-year-old politician, a member of parliament for the Awami League, had been ill for some time. He died in hospital in the capital, Dhaka.
Mr Azad was a well-known figure during Bangladesh's war of independence.
He was Bangladesh's first foreign minister and was reappointed to the post in 1996.
Leading politicians including Bangladesh's President, Iajuddin Ahmed, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and the opposition leader Sheikh Hasina have expressed their sadness at Mr Azad's death.
