Cricket train service announced
India and Pakistan have agreed to run special trains carrying cricket fans from Lahore to Chandigarh for the first cricket Test match next week.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said details were still being worked out to help Pakistani fans get to the match at Mohali, starting on 8 March.

The match is expected to draw thousands across the border. About 7,500 tickets have gone on sale in Lahore.

Pakistan began their tour on Thursday with a warm-up match in Dharamsala.

Plea to residents

Mr Singh said all Pakistani fans would be welcome but that "accommodation for 7,500 expected guests has posed a big problem".

He called on Chandigarh residents to help house visitors.

Pakistan play three Tests and six one-day games on their tour.

India and Pakistan resumed train links in January last year with a service from Lahore to the border station of Attari.

Rail links between the two nuclear rivals had been suspended for two years amid deteriorating relations.
