Rain traps 3,000 Indian pilgrims
Heavy rain in the northern Indian state of Uttaranchal has left at least 3,000 pilgrims stranded in the holy town of Badrinath, the authorities say.

The rains have caused landslides which have cut road links between the town high in the Himalayas and the rest of the country.

At least three other towns in the state - Kedarnath, Gangotri and Jamunotri - have also been affected by landslides.

Reports say the Ganges and Jamuna rivers are dangerously high in places.
