Anti-Norway protests in Sri Lanka
Thousands of Sri Lankan activists have been protesting in the capital, Colombo, against killings they blame on the Tamil Tiger rebels.

The protesters also denounced Norway, which is mediating in peace talks, for allegedly backing the rebels.

Correspondents say the organisers of the protest are supporters of Chandrika Kamaratunga's government.

In a letter to Norway's embassy, the protesters accused Oslo of secretly approving terrorist activities.

The Norwegian government has declined to comment on the letter.

The protests follow the failure of the latest attempt, earlier this month, by Norwegian mediators to revive talks which have been stalled since April last year.
