A curfew has been imposed in the town of Veraval in the western Indian state of Gujarat for a third consecutive day, following Hindu-Muslim clashes.
The two groups pelted each other with stones and threw acid bombs when the curfew was relaxed for a few hours earlier on Wednesday.
Police fired tear gas to control the crowd, a senior officer said.
The violence was triggered by reports that a Hindu girl had been sexually harassed, allegedly by a Muslim man.
On Monday, a man was killed in a clash between the two groups.
