Security officials in India's north-eastern state of Tripura say separatist rebels have killed at least six soldiers in an attack near the border with Bangladesh.
The officials said the rebels, from a faction of the National Liberation Front of Tripura, attacked a patrol on a remote road bordering the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh.
It is the first major attack by separatists in five months.
Most factions of the rebel group are now involved in peace talks with the Indian government, but some 200 fighters loyal to the chairman of the National Liberation Front have not joined the ceasefire.
