Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has appointed a new head of the country's powerful intelligence agency, the ISI.
He is Lieutenant-General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, who was formally corps commander of Rawalpindi.
He replaces Lt-Gen Ehsanul Haq who was promoted to chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee on Saturday.
General Haq, due to retire next May, will now remain part of decision-making for another three years.
