The Indian Supreme Court has halted all court proceedings against a leading politician in Tamil Nadu, Vaiko, who was facing charges under anti-terrorism laws.
The ruling came in response to a petition by Mr Vaiko, who had complained that anti-terrorism proceedings against him were continuing even after his name had been cleared by a judicial review committee.
The Tamil Nadu state government of Chief Minister Jayalalitha had charged Mr Vaiko with aiding terrorism, by supporting the rebel Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka.
Mr Vaiko spent 19 months in prison before being released on bail in February.
