The authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir say suspected militants have killed a prominent member of the governing People's Democratic Party.
Zulfikar Ahmed died on the way to hospital after being shot near his house in the southern town of Anantnag.
He was a former prosecution officer of the state police.
On Tuesday, Ghulam Mohammed Ganai, a politician belonging to the same party, was killed in the southern Kashmiri town of Pampore.
