Police in the north-east Indian state of Assam say suspected militants have killed the son of the state's mining minister.
Officials said five gunmen opened fired on Narmendua Langthasa when he was about to pick up his son from school in the heart of the town on Haflong.
The authorities believe the killing to be a fallout of the ethnic clashes between the Hmars and Dimasa tribes of Assam.
Nearly 40 people have died in the violence so far.
