Security was tight in India on Sunday, as the country celebrated its 54th Republic Day amid fears of attacks by Kashmiri rebels.
Tens of thousands of soldiers and police were deployed, to protect parades across the country
Performers from Goa celebrated their coastal state in style on the streets of Delhi
Army tanks moved down Delhi's Raj Path, with the presidential complex as a backdrop
Among the hardware on display was the Brahmos cruise missile, which can reach Pakistan
Iranian President Mohammad Khatami - the guest of honour - received a 21-gun salute
Parading police and soldiers also put on a colourful display in the capital
