Five militants killed in Kashmir
Police in Indian-administered Kashmir say security forces have shot dead five suspected Islamic militants in a gun battle close to the Line of Control dividing the disputed territory.

The fighting took place late on Sunday in the Baramulla district, north of Srinagar.

It was the latest in a series of violent incidents in the run-up to Tuesday's second round of voting for the state assembly in Indian-administered Kashmir.

More than 50,000 troops will be on duty alongside the state police. Election officials declared the first round of voting a success, despite a separatist rebel boycott.
