Former Kashmir leader shot
Police in Kashmir say a former leader of the pro-India Ikhwan militant group, Bashir Ahmad Khan, has been seriously injured following an attack near Bandipora town, north of Srinigar.
Three of his bodyguards were also badly injured in the attack. The group was fired at as they returned home after a day campaigning for the governing National Conference party. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service
