Kashmiri separatist leader attacked
A coalition of Islamist militant groups is calling for a prominent separatist leader in Indian-administered Kashmir to be expelled from the main separatist alliance there.
The United Jihad Council wants the alliance, the All Party Hurriyat Conference, to take action against the leader of the People's Conference party, Sajjad Lone, after he criticised militant leaders based in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Speaking at a public meeting on Saturday, Mr Lone was reported to have described the militant leaders as agents of Pakistan. Mr Lone's father, a moderate separatist leader, Abdul Gani Lone, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar in May. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
