Militants oppose Musharraf Kashmir policy
The decision by the Pakistani leader General Musharraf to restrict the passage of militants across the line of control in Kashmir has angered the groups involved.
A declaration by the Pakistan Afghan Defence Committee - an organisation grouping some of the leading Islamic parties and Pakistan-based militant organisations - insists that Kashmiri people do not recognise the line of control and that the insurgency will continue. The declaration was issued after a meeting of the Committee in Islamabad on Monday. A BBC correspondent there says the army has been trying to persuade the militants to call a unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir to increase the pressure on India to enter talks but it seems the militants are in no mood to cooperate.
