Pakistan train crash kills five

Officials in Pakistan say a train crash near the eastern city of Lahore has killed at least five people and injured dozens of others.

They said the accident took place when a passenger train derailed at Qilasattarshah station, about 25 kilometres from Lahore.

Preliminary investigations suggested the driver failed to apply the brakes at the right time.

The officials said the tracks had since been cleared and railway traffic restored in the area.
