Six die in Jharkand mine collapse
The authorities in the north Indian state of Jharkhand say at least six people were killed when an abandoned coal mine collapsed yesterday.

The mine in Hazaribagh district, about 100 km from the state capital, Ranchi, caved in while local villagers were inside trying to extract coal.

A police spokesman said they had been mining illegally.
