Indian surgeon accused of making porn beach films

An orthopaedic surgeon has been arrested in India on charges of making pornographic films, and supplying American web sites with obscene photographs.

Police in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, say Dr Prakash used to make his films in a sleepy seaside village near Madras where he owns a farmhouse.

When villagers objected to seeing naked men and women on the beach, he is alleged to have used his money and political influence to get away with it.

The details only came to light after a teenage student alleged that he had been blackmailed into taking part in orgies by the doctor.

Dr Prakash has denied any involvement, and says some police officials have a personal grudge against him.
