In pictures: Indian parliament attack
The attack on the parliament in Delhi took the security forces by surprise. Soon they were heavily deployed.
 A Delhi police commando runs for cover
 Security forces suffered casualties
 Security guards said many were injured in the attack
 The security forces covered all entrances and exits
 A bus quickly ferried away those MPs who could escape
 National Security Guard 'Black Cats' were on the scene
