Sri Lanka backs US
The Sri Lankan Government has formally announced its fullest backing for the United States following the attacks in New York and Washington.

The foreign ministry said any requests for assistance would be fulfilled wherever possible.

The separatist Tamil Tiger guerrillas have been outlawed in the US since 1997, and America is providing assistance to the Sri Lankan security forces in their attempts to combat the rebels.

India and Pakistan have already announced that they will support the US in any action against Afghanistan.
