Wednesday, August 12, 1998 Published at 22:27 GMT 23:27 UK World: South Asia Sunday Mirror to hand over Arthur C Clarke tapes A British newspaper, the Sunday Mirror, says it will hand over to the international police organization, Interpol, a recorded interview with the science fiction writer, Arthur C Clarke. The paper says the taped interview suggests that Mr Clarke is a paedophile. Mr Clarke has denied allegations of child abuse published by the Sunday Mirror earlier this year. Earlier, police in Sri Lanka -- where Mr Clarke lives -- said their investigation into the allegation was being hampered by the Sunday Mirror's failure to co-operate with Interpol. A spokesman for the paper denied this, saying they had previously sent a copy of the recording, but Interpol had apparently not received it. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
