More sectarian violence in Pakistan

Tens of thousands of people in the Pakistani city of Karachi have attended the funeral of a prominent Muslim leader, Maulana Saleem Qadri, who was shot dead on Friday.

The funeral went off peacefully, but there were sporadic acts of violence in parts of the city; several vehicles were set on fire and police used teargas to disperse angry supporters of the assassinated cleric.

In Lahore, his supporters gathered near the city's largest shrine, the Data Durbar, and clashed with the police.

Maulana Qadri led a moderate Sunni party, which has kept clear of the ongoing sectarian violence between extremist Shia and Sunni Muslim factions in Pakistan.
