Bollywood wedding of the year
![]() Hrithik Roshan is Bollywood's number one star
The biggest heart-throb in the Bombay film world, Hrithik Roshan, is marrying his long-standing girlfriend in the south Indian city of Bangalore, leaving thousands of female fans broken-hearted.
Hrithik, who soared to fame following his debut film, Kaho Na Pyar Hai (Tell me you love me), will marry Suzanne Khan on Wednesday at a luxury resort owned by her film star father, Sanjay Khan.
The father of the bride told journalists that the wedding would be a private family affair. Around 70 people have been invited and the guest list is believed to include stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia and Rajkumar, who recently survived a kidnap ordeal, as well as the Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna. Security Security is tight around the 20-acre estate, to keep fans away from the ceremony, and to protect guests from underworld hit men. Hrithik's father, the director Rakesh Roshan, was attacked by gangsters in Bombay in February as he refused to comply with extortion threats. The couple will marry in a civil ceremony - the groom is Hindu while the bride Muslim. "It will be preceded by religious ceremonies according to Hindu and Muslim traditions," said the bride's father. He described their wedding as "a symbol of communal harmony". Broken-hearted "Don't break your hearts over me," Hrithik told his devastated female fans. But this will be little comfort to the 30,000 women who sent him marriage proposals on Valentine's Day this year. Though Ms Khan is a successful businesswomen and interior designer in her own right, she is now simply known as "the most envied girl in town" by the plethora of Indian websites devoted to the couple. |
