A volcano in Eyjafjallajoekull in south-central Iceland continues to erupt under an ice-sheet but fears that it could unleash floods of melted water have so far been unfounded.
Nearly 600 people who had been moved from their homes at the weekend have been now been allowed to return, although the residents of 14 farms have been ordered to stay away.
