The four-tonne module launched to the ISS on Tuesday
A Russian Soyuz rocket has launched carrying a new docking compartment for the International Space Station (ISS). The four-tonne Mini Research Module-2 (MIM-2) will act as an additional docking port for spacecraft and an airlock for spacewalks. The module launched on a modified Progress spacecraft from Baikonur Cosmodrome at 1422 GMT. The launch marks Russia's resumption of construction on the space station after a decade-long hiatus.
