Call for beach sewage change

Environmental campaigners are calling for a change in the way sewage is managed around Britain's coast.

The Marine Conservation Society says combined sewer overflows, which are designed to discharge waste after heavy rainfall, are routinely being used to deposit waste into the sea.

In the past three years, there has been a significant decline in the number of beaches classed as "excellent" by the Good Beach Guide.
