She's an astronomer: A typical day

The British Science Festival, one of Europe's largest science festivals is marking the International Year of Astronomy by looking at the contributions female astronomers have made.

The 'She's an Astronomer' event at the University of Surrey in Guildford will hear from a range of women working in the field.

So what exactly does an astronomer do from day to day?

Dr Catherine Heymans is based at the Royal Observatory at Edinburgh University's Institute of Astronomy. She explains how she became interested in astronomy and what she does in a typical day.
